Russian River

It’s been 6 years since I was last here, and it’s mandatory to drink the sample tray when you’re visiting.

Turns out my friend was in the area as well, so that makes two taster trays.

Oh the satisfaction, additional satisfaction was had in the form of 3 additional pints each after the tray was finished.

I hear this beer is pretty rare. Tasted pretty good too!

I’m not dead

Here are some photos of beer to prove it!

Finback MK Ultra: First beer I’ve had by Finback that wasn’t a collaboration and it was awesome! I think they really nailed the IIPA style while treading the lines between West Coast IPA and New England IPA styles pretty well. Also, you bet your ass I was blasting “MK Ultra” by Muse while I crushed this beer.

Old Bourbon County

Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout 2012: This beer definitely has legs, it’s 5 years in and I wouldn’t say this beer is really falling off yet. On the other hand, I don’t really see it getting better as it’s taking on a little bit of oxidation now. Drink em while you’ve got em!

Scotch Abyss

Everyone told me that this beer was not very good, but I have to disagree! Scotch is very subdued, but this might be my favorite Abyss variant so far. I won’t truly know until I try Rye Whiskey Abyss again.

When in Costa Rica, drink craft beer

Drink craft beer whenever you aren’t drinking shit out of fruit or stuff with fruit in it.

That’s right, I brought beer all the way from Portland to Guanacaste, Costa Rica.

Don’t hate.

A little day drinking at de Garde

I haven’t been to de Garde in a while, and a friend from college was in town. Fast forward one and a half hours and….

Yep, that’s a penis on a teku glass, also known as a dicku!

Friday Nights at Growler Guys

Whoever the hell made this is one fantastic homebrewer. This is the best homebrew I’ve ever had.

de Garde Bu Rice: Still tasty, but I think it’s falling off right now purely due to how sour this beer has gotten since it was released.

de Garde 3rd Anniversary: While Bu Rice deteriorated over time, this beer is getting better. Mmmm.

Upright Heart’s Beat: Here’s another beer that’s improving! Before it wasn’t sour or funky enough, but now the huge cherry bomb is starting to develop some other characteristics. This could easily go a few more years.

Sante Adairius Southern Sunrise: My favorite beer of the evening, and while I think apricots are a better fruit to use in beer than peaches, this beer is easily better than West Ashley in my opinion.

Alesmith Barrel Aged Vietnamese Coffee Speedway: God damn that’s a long name to type out. Whatever, this beer is fantastic. On the other hand, I still think my favorite Speedway variant is just normal Vietnamese Coffee.

Also, don’t spill beer. You might just have to zamboni it.

Block 15 Super Nebula Breakfast with Woodford & Double Chocolate Vanilla Bean: Woodford is way better. The end.
