Bottle Share @ Growler Guys: The massacre of livers.

Growler Guys hosted a large bottle share for a bunch of the beer geeks in Portland. We all decided to bring beers that we wanted to share with people/couldn’t finish on our own.

So everyone brought big imperial stouts.

I thought it would be funny to bring a carbonated Hair of the Dog beer. SodaStream works, every time. In this particular case, Adam from the Wood

10 Barrel Cucumber Crush: This beer is perfect for getting ready. I fucking love this shit. A+

Hill Farmstead Arthur: Mmmm, this is not an imperial stout, I’m just not quite ready yet. A

Cantillon Fou Foune 2014: This is superior to the 2013 vintage. Way more apricots in this one. Thanks to my buddy Bruce for bringing this one! A+

Cantillon Lou Pepe Kriek 2014 Cork : Bruce strikes again. Not quite sure that this is as good as the 2013 I opened a few weeks ago, but whatever, it’s all delicious. A+

That Bruce guy is such an asshole.

Block 15 Super Nebula: Mmm, this one is the batch that was aged in Pappy Van Winkle 20 barrels. Can you taste the /rar?! A

Cigar City Marshal Zhukov B1: This beer is 6 years old…..and it’s aged surprisingly well! I imagined an oxidized mess, but it turned out to be pretty good. On the other hand, you should drink this one fresh. B

Jester King Atrial Rubicite: Best beer that Jester King makes by a mile. Do you like raspberry jam? I do, so I love this beer. A

Hangar 24 Pugachev’s Cobra: Let the stouts begin.

Alesmith Vietnamese Coffee Speedway: This is the best variant. So ridiculously good. A+

Alesmith Kopi Luwak Barrel Aged Speedway: Such a long name, but it’s really damn good. A/A+

Hill Farmstead E.: NOT A STOUT THANK GOD! I’ve had too many stouts in the last week or so…

Side Project Saison de Rouge: This one is really good, definitely better than the other Side Projects I’ve had aside from Fuzzy.

Bruery Chocolate Rain: This is not the beer to have last, but we did it anyway.

So, these are just some of the bottles that showed up at the tasting. If I had to guess, I would say about 50-60 bottles were there, but I’d rather not die, so I only had the ones I listed above.

De Garde Vin Lee Release

After the Super Nebula release, we all make the 2 hour drive up to Tillamook in order to make the De Garde release + bottle share. It’s a lot of driving for sure, but it definitely pays dividends!

Nice little line outside the brewery on a rare sunny winter day.

Upright Blend Love: Doing very well, and very suitable as a “standing in line” beer. A

Ooooh look! It’s the beer allocations for the Keepers Society! Much jimmies will be rustled.

DAT Coolship!

De Garde Imperial Vin Bu: One of the best beers from De Garde so far! I would place it above the raspberry variant and below the boysenberry version. A+

There were a lot of people at the event, and it was run very well.

Huh….that name looks familiar. This becomes important later.

Fire Engine #9: Golden raspberry sour that tastes a little like a diet version of Block 15’s Framboise White. A-

Night Shift Cape Codder Weisse: Apparently this is really rare, but I just don’t get as much cranberry as I was expecting. Pretty good though! B+/A-

Hill Farmstead Elaborative #2: Pretty good, but I really want to say this was terrible because I lost a bottle of this when it was being shipped to me. B+

Jester King Atrial Rubicite: Yep, still tastes like jam! A-/A

De Garde Vin Lee: Holy mutant batman! This beer is incredible, neck and neck with Imperial Vin Bu as the best beer of the day. A+

New Belgium La Folie: Cage and Corked La Folie is superior to the more recent versions. Non-pasteurization is the way to go! A+

Bruery Mocha Wednesday: This beer is insane. If you have the means, track one down. A+

Upright Special Herbs: DEM SPECIAL HERBS!!!!!!!!!

Olde Hickory Lindley Park: Tastes like Thanksgiving! A-/A

Sante Adarius Love’s Armor: Best batch so far! B+/A-

Jester King thingy thingama thing: I’m reaching the point of not caring…

Cigar City Smoked Imperial Stout: Nice and peaty! A-

Block 15 Super Nebula: Yeah, just came from the brewery, but couldn’t help myself! A

MMmmm, beer….

Remember that barrel I showed earlier? Here’s a picture of a weird man drinking straight from the barrel. I heard it was quite good.

Oh god, what have we done?!

Small bottleshare time!

Couple people from out of town wanted to do some trades and to share some bottles, so for the 3rd time in the same number of days, I went to the Commons.

Hmm, might be a lot for 5 people. I love the ambition.

Time for some liquid courage in the form of Gin Enkel! 5 glasses in 3 days, I might have a problem.

De Garde Rougie: Aging well, but it’s a slower gusher now, so be ready with a glass!

Crooked Stave Surette: So much better than the reserva version! This one has no butter.

Jester King Aurelian: Holy tits this beer is sour! Lots of apricots too! First Jester King beer I’ve had that doesn’t suck. A-

Troegs Master of Pumpkins: Not bad, but I like the label better. B

Lawson’s Maple Tripple: Tastes like delicious, alcoholic breakfast! A+

Best way to smash my face with coffee.

Crooked Stave L’Brett Blackberry: Quite tasty, but I wouldn’t mind more fruit. B+

Jester King Chrysalis: Not as good as the apricot Jester King, but it is still good. Maybe I need to only drink the small bottles of Jester King. Is that the secret? B+

Crooked Stave Origins: Still one of the better dark sours out there. B+

Crooked Stave Cherry Origins: Best beer from this year’s Crooked Stave reserve society. A/A+

Lost Abbey Duck Duck Gooze 2013: Batch 2 is way better than the original batch. This one is nice and refreshing while bringing a good amount of funk to the table. Batch 1’s soul goal was to destroy my face, and it did a pretty good job. This is worth trading for. A/A+

Lost Abbey Cable Car: Holy robot Jesus I love this beer. A+

The man who brought the bottle chugging the last 5 oz like a boss!

Cantillon 50N-4E: Oh, hey there. Cognac barrel aged sour beer?! Why yes, yes I want some. It was quite good too! A

Jester King Atrial Rubicite: This one is god damn delicious, absolutely worth the hype! One of the juiciest, jammiest beers I’ve ever had. A+

Bruery Grey Monday: This is a terrible idea, but a delicious one! A/A+

Both Persicas were buttery. What sadness.
