Beer & Drunk Jenga

Lesson to be learned: use a table that doesn’t slide easily, otherwise games shall be very short.

IMAG2256

Evil Twin Double Barrel Jesus: Oh hey, this batch is waaaaaaaay better than the last batch I’ve had. It carries a lot of fudge and chocolate, rather than burnt cardboard and dead mice. Well, maybe not those things, but it wasn’t good.

IMAG2257

Three Magnets Howards Blend: Don’t know anything about this brewery, but it is pretty tasty.

IMAG2258

10 Barrel Cucumber Crush: OH MY GOD THIS IS IN CANS NOW?!!!!!! I’M SO SCREWED.

IMAG2259

Commons Trillium: This beer was pretty tasty when it was first released, but now that it has had time to age it is really, really good. Commons beers always seem to get much better after 6 months of sitting around in the bottle.

IMAG2260

Wicked Weed Chocolate Covered Black Angel: Really interesting nose, since it actually smells like chocolate covered cherries. Much, much better than regular Black Angel

IMAG2261

Tired Hands Rose: THERE IS A CAT ON THE CAN! BEST BEER I’VE EVER HAD IN THE HISTORY OF EVER A++++++++++

IMAG2262

Hill Farmstead Dry Hopped Arthur: Very tasty, but I like regular Arthur better. That being said, it’s a fun thing that the brewery should do from time to time, just to keep things fresh.

This one was weird.

Brews for New Avenues Bottle Share

New Avenues for Youth had a small bottle share at one of my favorite bars over the weekend, just to get some donor engagement going, and since we all drink and hang out together anyway.

First, had to stretch the liver with some Hawaiian Speedway. It was taaaaassty.

Thanks for the spread Cheese Bar!

Common’s Anniversary

Dropped in briefly to try their barrel aged imperial stout with hazelnuts and their plum sour. Did not walk away disappointed, but I couldn’t taste the hazelnuts. 😦

Random night of drinking

Because who really needs an excuse to drink delicious things, right?

IMAG1135

Maine Beer Company A Tiny Beautiful Something: Old, but still pretty tasty.

IMAG1136

Commons Brewery Ginger Lime Myrtle: It’s not Honey Ginger Lime, but this is still fantastic, and won’t absolutely crush my liver.

IMAG1137

Upright Blend Edmunds: This beer has aged beautifully, but has not kept it’s previous fruitiness. It has changed that aggressive fruit profile for something way more delicate. A+

Cause for Celebration

So I’ve been working on a rock climbing route outside on lead, and I finally got it! It was terrifying….but I get to have some celebration beers!

IMAG0408

Bruery Mocha Wednesday: Dehydrated? Check, 19.2% beer? Check!

IMAG0409

Commons Trillium: This beer has really taken off, probably my favorite Commons beer to date! I really like Commons, but I think they might be releasing them a few months too early, since their bottles come out just about perfect after aging in my closet for a few months.

This was a great and terrible idea. Willet 11yr bottle #768 is the winner.

IMAG0410

Jester King Sin Frontera: Smarties.

Uli/BrauArt Lambik Peated Weizen: If you don’t like Islay, you will hate this beer, but if you do, this thing is absolutely awesome. I’ll never get the chance to have something like this ever again.

Commons!

It’s been a while since I dropped by Commons and Cheese Annex, so I fixed that issue.

IMAG0231

Field and Furrow: Very tasty and light. I should order a keg of this beer for the next beer pong party.

Short break with a grilled cheese with soprasata

Baltic Porter: So freaking good, this gives Everett a run for its money in my opinion.

That’s it for Oregon

Last night was Oregon’s best chance at a winning a title game for years. Unfortunately, they had to play against a team that looked like a bunch of Uruk-Hai led by an enormous quarterback, who, after shrugging of Oregon linebackers over and over again, started to remind me a lot of this guy:

Anyways, a bunch of beer was consumed, some of it in happiness when Oregon scored, and most of it in sadness and Elliot and Jones proceeded to march through the Oregon defense.

IMAG3067
New Glarus Cranbic: Way sweeter than I expected. Want moar sour.

IMAG3069

De Garde Currant Gin Bu: Moar sourness achieved!

IMAG3071

Hill Farmstead Brother Soigne: Still one of HF’s best saisons, regardless of price.

IMAG3072

Surly Pentagram: 6.66% ABV? They totally didn’t water down this beer to get to that ABV.

IMAG3074

Sante Adairius Cask 200: I would say this beer is better than Arthur by a hair, but Brother Soigne takes it. I’ll just have to get more bottles of this to really decide.

IMAG3075

De Garde The Boysen: Stupid good. Jammy and funky. I look forward to more De Garde sours that have spent more time in the barrels than their berliners.

IMAG3076

Commons Creme de Peche: Less peach than I anticipated, but my mouth is also ruined at this point. Also, my happiness and hopes of Oregon winning against OSU were also ruined at this point.

IMAG3077

Lost Abbey Duck Duck Gooze: Defeat beer.

IMAG3078

Upright Fantasia: One defeat beer wasn’t enough, we needed two.

Bed time.
