Beer & Drunk Jenga

Lesson to be learned: use a table that doesn’t slide easily, otherwise games shall be very short.

IMAG2256

Evil Twin Double Barrel Jesus: Oh hey, this batch is waaaaaaaay better than the last batch I’ve had. It carries a lot of fudge and chocolate, rather than burnt cardboard and dead mice. Well, maybe not those things, but it wasn’t good.

IMAG2257

Three Magnets Howards Blend: Don’t know anything about this brewery, but it is pretty tasty.

IMAG2258

10 Barrel Cucumber Crush: OH MY GOD THIS IS IN CANS NOW?!!!!!! I’M SO SCREWED.

IMAG2259

Commons Trillium: This beer was pretty tasty when it was first released, but now that it has had time to age it is really, really good. Commons beers always seem to get much better after 6 months of sitting around in the bottle.

IMAG2260

Wicked Weed Chocolate Covered Black Angel: Really interesting nose, since it actually smells like chocolate covered cherries. Much, much better than regular Black Angel

IMAG2261

Tired Hands Rose: THERE IS A CAT ON THE CAN! BEST BEER I’VE EVER HAD IN THE HISTORY OF EVER A++++++++++

IMAG2262

Hill Farmstead Dry Hopped Arthur: Very tasty, but I like regular Arthur better. That being said, it’s a fun thing that the brewery should do from time to time, just to keep things fresh.

IMAG2263

This one was weird.

I don’t care if it isn’t berliner weather.

Cucumber Crush is still incredible. Also reminds me that I need to go to 10 Barrel more often. ABInbev acquisition be damned.

Tasting at Growler Guys

My liver was not in the greatest shape last Sunday, and there was a bottle share that afternoon. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and rally. This was one of those days.

IMAG3549

Notice the baby pours. The brain is strong, but the liver is weak and tender.

IMAG3550

Hill Farmstead Madness and Civilization #1: Super roasty and delicious. A long time ago we went through the Madness and Civilization set, and #1 was the tastiest. Fast forward half a year or so, and the beer is still fantastic.

IMAG3551

10 Barrel Cucumber Crush: Okay, this feels much better.

IMAG3552

Cigar City Double Barrel Hunahpu’s: Look at the upper left corner. His expression basically tells you how good the beer is. That is all.

IMAG3553

Hill Farmstead Norma: Really delicious, but it’s such a pain in the butt to trade for now! BAH VERMONT HOARDERS!!!!

IMAG3554

Westbrook Tequila Barrel Mexican Cake: This is the best use for tequila. It’s a terrible liquid but it isn’t so bad once it’s used to age beer! Yay beer!

IMAG3555

De Garde Imperial Blackberry Bu: Very tasty, but this bottle gushes. Beware.

IMAG3556

Toppling Goliath Assassin: This is much better than the last time I tried it. I did try batch 1 the first time, so it might just be a difference in batches. Anyways, this beer is great and is very tasty. That being said, don’t get raped on the beer forums in order to get one.

IMAG3560

Again, upper left for beer rating.

IMAG3561

DUCK DUCK GOOZE!

IMAG3562

15-hit combo.

Django Unchained

Never got around to seeing this movie, so we met up at a friend’s place to see this extremely long and entertaining movie while doing some spring cleaning on his fridge.

IMAG3377

Block 15 Golden Canary: I got the juicy bits, but this beer is still drinking really well. Tart, funky, and refreshing.

IMAG3378

10 Barrel Cucumber Crush: I fucking love this beer. I don’t care who owns the brewery, as long as they keep churning this shit out.

IMAG3379

De Garde Imperial Cherry Blu Bu: Don’t mind the sasquatch foot in the background.

IMAG3380

North Coast Old Stock 2013: This is stupid good. It’s like hot chocolate beer.

IMAG3381

Pelican Mother of All Storms: Good, but I want more of that chocolate beer.

IMAG3382

Alesmith Bourbon Barrel Aged Vietnamese Coffee Speedway Stout: This beer is as tasty as its name is long. It has a bit of that marshmallow quality that Vanilla Rye has, but it is not nearly as sweet. Win!

IMAG3383

Jester King Blackberry Beer That I Don’t Want to Spell. Yes.

Bottle Share @ Growler Guys: The massacre of livers.

Growler Guys hosted a large bottle share for a bunch of the beer geeks in Portland. We all decided to bring beers that we wanted to share with people/couldn’t finish on our own.

So everyone brought big imperial stouts.

IMAG2894

I thought it would be funny to bring a carbonated Hair of the Dog beer. SodaStream works, every time. In this particular case, Adam from the Wood

IMAG2895

10 Barrel Cucumber Crush: This beer is perfect for getting ready. I fucking love this shit. A+

IMAG2896

Hill Farmstead Arthur: Mmmm, this is not an imperial stout, I’m just not quite ready yet. A

IMAG2897

Cantillon Fou Foune 2014: This is superior to the 2013 vintage. Way more apricots in this one. Thanks to my buddy Bruce for bringing this one! A+

IMAG2898

Cantillon Lou Pepe Kriek 2014 Cork : Bruce strikes again. Not quite sure that this is as good as the 2013 I opened a few weeks ago, but whatever, it’s all delicious. A+

IMAG2901

That Bruce guy is such an asshole.

IMAG2900

Block 15 Super Nebula: Mmm, this one is the batch that was aged in Pappy Van Winkle 20 barrels. Can you taste the /rar?! A

IMAG2902

Cigar City Marshal Zhukov B1: This beer is 6 years old…..and it’s aged surprisingly well! I imagined an oxidized mess, but it turned out to be pretty good. On the other hand, you should drink this one fresh. B

IMAG2903

Jester King Atrial Rubicite: Best beer that Jester King makes by a mile. Do you like raspberry jam? I do, so I love this beer. A

IMAG2904

Hangar 24 Pugachev’s Cobra: Let the stouts begin.

IMAG2905

Alesmith Vietnamese Coffee Speedway: This is the best variant. So ridiculously good. A+

IMAG2908

Alesmith Kopi Luwak Barrel Aged Speedway: Such a long name, but it’s really damn good. A/A+

IMAG2906

Hill Farmstead E.: NOT A STOUT THANK GOD! I’ve had too many stouts in the last week or so…

IMAG2911

Side Project Saison de Rouge: This one is really good, definitely better than the other Side Projects I’ve had aside from Fuzzy.

IMAG2912

Bruery Chocolate Rain: This is not the beer to have last, but we did it anyway.

So, these are just some of the bottles that showed up at the tasting. If I had to guess, I would say about 50-60 bottles were there, but I’d rather not die, so I only had the ones I listed above.

Soccer + Bottle Share

Watched the Timbers beat LA Galaxy. Felt great! We had some nice craft beer to help us get through the game at BeerMongers!

IMAG3219

10 Barrel Cucumber Crush: I was so happy to see this beer again. Drinking it was great too! A+

IMAG3218

Bruery Chocolate Rain: All the chocolate, vanilla, and booze you could want or ask for. Drink some. A+

Oh yeah, and some California beers. I love Nelson. Top 5 IPA for sure.
