Small Bottle Share
A guy from London was in town the other day and did a couple of in-person trades with people in my tasting group. Since several of us were getting together anyway, we decided to have a little bottle share because….beer.
Gotta support the local business! It was one of the Elysian apocalypse beers, it was okay.
Common’s Bourbon Little Brother: Dangerously drinkable, and very light for a beer that’s seen time in bourbon barrels. B+
Drie Fonteinen Oude Geuze Armand & Tommy: I think I’m starting to like bitter sours, they just balance out the tartness of the beer so well! This beer was very good, makes me want to drink regular oude geuze more often. A
Hill Farmstead Twilight of the Idols: Yep, drinking this one again!
Hill Farmstead Birth of Tragedy: This beer is stupid good. It’s very minimally carbonated, so that’s kind of a bummer. Oh well, bubbles are overrated. Tons of vanilla in this beer, way more than Twilight of the Idols, but zero coffee. The bourbon at the finish is a nice touch as well. Probably one of the best beers I’ve had this year, mostly because I love vanilla when executed properly. A+
Odell The Meddler: Decent Flanders style beer. Reminds me of a less sweet version of cuvee de jacobins. B
Block 15 Belmont 15th Anniversary: It’s aging well! Happy to be sitting on a bottle! B+
Upright Blend Love: Still good, but it’s definitely falling off a little. Fruit is fading and it’s drying out a lot. I would drink any remaining bottle you might have in the next couple of months. B+/A-
Cigar City Moat Water: It uses the water from the moat of a skate park. It’s tasty.
This beer sucked. Tasted like bacon.
