Small Bottle Share

A guy from London was in town the other day and did a couple of in-person trades with people in my tasting group. Since several of us were getting together anyway, we decided to have a little bottle share because….beer.

IMAG2138

Gotta support the local business! It was one of the Elysian apocalypse beers, it was okay.

IMAG2139

Common’s Bourbon Little Brother: Dangerously drinkable, and very light for a beer that’s seen time in bourbon barrels. B+

IMAG2140

Drie Fonteinen Oude Geuze Armand & Tommy: I think I’m starting to like bitter sours, they just balance out the tartness of the beer so well! This beer was very good, makes me want to drink regular oude geuze more often. A

IMAG2141

Hill Farmstead Twilight of the Idols: Yep, drinking this one again!

IMAG2142

Hill Farmstead Birth of Tragedy: This beer is stupid good. It’s very minimally carbonated, so that’s kind of a bummer. Oh well, bubbles are overrated. Tons of vanilla in this beer, way more than Twilight of the Idols, but zero coffee. The bourbon at the finish is a nice touch as well. Probably one of the best beers I’ve had this year, mostly because I love vanilla when executed properly. A+

IMAG2143

Odell The Meddler: Decent Flanders style beer. Reminds me of a less sweet version of cuvee de jacobins. B

IMAG2144

Block 15 Belmont 15th Anniversary: It’s aging well! Happy to be sitting on a bottle! B+

IMAG2145

Upright Blend Love: Still good, but it’s definitely falling off a little. Fruit is fading and it’s drying out a lot. I would drink any remaining bottle you might have in the next couple of months. B+/A-

IMAG2146

Cigar City Moat Water: It uses the water from the moat of a skate park. It’s tasty.

IMAG2147

This beer sucked. Tasted like bacon.

Cherry Adam from the Wood

Still just as good on Christmas Day as any other day!

IMAG2158

Also, got to see this when I got brunch!

IMAG2156

Baller Status.

Merry Christmas!

IMAG2154

Keep drinking my friends!

2009 Bourbonic Plague

So ridiculously good, it’s been too long since I’ve had this beer. I can’t wait for the next release in 2013!

IMAG2130

Mmmmm.

IMAG2131

Also, Hill Farmstead Arthur.

Apocalypse!!!!

On 12-21-2012 Sam died of blood alcohol poisoning.

Low ABV? Drinkin’ it solo!

I shared my first bottle with friends, leaving me to drink this one all by myself! Yahtzee!

IMAG2119

I’ve missed you…

It’s so good to see this beer in bottles after Laurelwood skipped a year due to using up their hop contracts. One of the best bottled IPAs in the PNW!

IMAG2090

‘Tis the Season!

IMAG2118

Jubelale, so good for the holidays!

So much coffee

Haven’t had this beer since college, and even though it isn’t as good as I remember. $44ish a case in PA was a pretty fantastic deal.

IMAG1955

Man I kind of miss buying beer by the case for cheap….A-

These tastings won’t end

A buddy of mine had a co-worker in town…and he was a beer geek. So we did what all beer geeks do when they get together. We opened bottles…

IMAG2095

Barrel Aged Imperial Stout Trooper: Soooo much barrel, but not well integrated. C

IMAG2096

Imperial Stout Trooper: Now that’s more like it! This is the first batch, but I’m not sure of the year. B+

IMAG2097

Cigar City Campeador: I didn’t know that CCB made a still beer! This beer has no carbonation at all, is more viscous than the BA stout trooper, and has equal amounts of barrel flavor in it. Nope. C-

IMAG2099

Alpine Nelson: Soooo goood! A+

IMAG2100

Deschutes Jubel 2010: One of my favorite barleywines! This one is oxidized a little bit, but it’s just as good. I think that this beer may have peaked, so I’ll have to sacrifice my liver in name of trying out the bottles I have.

IMAG2101

Midnight Sun Berserker:……And it’s not infected! But I think everyone already knew that. “My love for you is like a truck….BERSERKER!”  A-
