Vietnam – where the beer tastes like water and the water tastes like beer.

Gotta drink all dem adjunct lagers!

Ho Chi Minh/Saigon hydration game fully activated. It all tastes like water, which is actually better than the American macro brews since these guys know exactly what their product is and don’t try to disguise it as anything else! WHAT A CONCEPT!

Oh the fond memories

I’m currently in Vietnam, but on my last day in the States I had a few friends over for a couple beers and to watch the Lion King in 3D. Great movie, I don’t care that I dragged my friends kicking and screaming into it. They can suck it.

The beers in the middle were not particularly good….On the other hand, Ctirus Desay was very tasty and Cantillon Kriek is always a good way to end a night.

Now, onwards to beer purgatory, where beer is served with ice.

Migration Week in Portland

This means Bourbon County everywhere….

Vanilla Rye on the left, Proprietors on the right. Great beers, but this week needs to happen in December. It’s too hot out for BA stouts right now.

And then more drinking happened.

Wow, I haven’t been back in a while.

Since I’ve been running around and traveling so much lately, I really haven’t had a chance to drop into de Garde and hang out with the fantastic people there. Glad to say I was able to fix that this past weekend.

de Garde Framiscus: Wow holy jeezus. This beer veers away from the fruit bomb territory of the past few Bu’s and jumps into the funk game. That being said, this beer is still bursting with raspberries. If you were able to get bottles of this beer last week, drink one now, then take your other two and hide them in the back of the closet, cause this one is gonna get good!

IMAG0834

de Garde Apricot Bu: Probably the best batch of Apricot Bu thus far, it is simply bursting with that fresh apricot skin flavor. Where is that orange juice, I want to make a bu-mosa.

IMAG0835

de Garde The Unblended: Good, but I want carbonation 😦

IMAG0836

de Garde Black Raz Bu: Awwwwww, not nearly as good as b1. Has none of the funk or tartness of the previous batch, and is simply too sweet for me.

Great time at de Garde as always, and it looks like I won’t be able to make it back for another month, because I have to go back to beer purgatory. Do not pass go, do not tick 200 beers.

LOOK WHAT I FOUND AT DE GARDE!!!!

I have no idea what this is.

But it’s very tasty. Great barleywine, despite me thinking that it’s not barrel aged. Could be wrong though. After all, us beer geeks are purely driven by hype and have no idea what is actually going on.

Cooking Rampage

Being away from home for so long made me really want to cook. So I pretty much cooked all night, and also enjoyed this beer. I will say, Premiere Annee is aging really gracefully, shame it’s my last one.
